I used to live around the corner from Atomic Age. It was literally at the end of my street in Toronto. When I lived in Australia, it was always an expedition to go to the comic shop, but not in Toronto. There are more comic stores in that city than the entire country of Australia!

I always got a kick out of the fact that I could just stop in on the way home from grocery shopping to grab some comics.

Awesome. :)

we really only have Kinokuniya (in sydney at least), not really the greatest place to be if you want to get involved with the film/arts/comic/whatever business
btw big fan of max! been following it for almost a year and it only just occurred to me to look you up on DA :P

I never made it to check out Kinokuniya (it's right in the city, isn't it?) but I did visit Sydney's other two stores. Kings - where I remember buying Flight Vol 1 while I was there for a Disney animation job that I didn't get. And the other one. I forget what it's called, but it's dingy - and people probably know which one I'm talking about.

Hold on to that dream. The reality is far scarier.

The pay was around 480 per FORTNIGHT for grueling 200 inbetweens per day (or more, I don't remember exactly, it was a while ago) and you weren't allowed to go home until you were at your quota. I'm glad I didn't get the job because I don't think you could survive Sydney on 480 per fortnight.

For the three hours I was there, though, they did give out a lot of freebies over the intercom to employees, but you can't pay for groceries with a Winnie the Pooh backpack. ;)

Yikes, I'm not sure sydney still has a studio, didn't it close in 2005? Hahaha maybe you could stock up on them and sell them on ebay? the dream is to come home and say "I made something!" instead of "I sold some stuff." And this weekend I'm starting a tafe course in 3d animation through school, so excited!

Awesomesauce! You're braver than me. All that math and science implemented to create art... It'd do my head in. ;)

It was actually so good!!! I'm already looking forward to next week and the teacher worked at disney for 20 years, he did some of the backgrounds for the sequels of the lion king, alladin, and peter pan, he even snuck the opera house and the harbour bridge into some of them! we havent used the computers yet, its gonna be scary :/
